SAN SALVADOR, July 4, 2008.- Canada
defeated Mexico 3-0 obtaining the right to
dispute the gold medal of the U-21 Men’s
Continental Championship being held at the
Sports Palace here.
The Canadians won by score of 25-17,
25-17, 25-21 and won a berth for the World
Championship to be played in Mexico next
year.
In the second set, the Mexicans went to
the second pause leading 16-15, but the
Canadians sparked a rally of nine
consecutive points relying especially in
their strong blocking.
“All the victories come to us when we play
a fundamental game with everyone making
his part of the misión,” said Chris Green.
“Nothing spectacular, play every point
applying the systems,” he remarked.
About the gold medal match he considered
it is going to be a good match because
“Cuba is a great team, have a lot of
resources and we are going to give our
biggest effort against a very important
rival.”
Gordon Perrin with 18 points and Joren
Zeeman with 10 were the top scorers of
Canada. The Mexicans had Francisco
Enriquez and Leonardo Manzo both with 7
